Fashion | Summer Nautical OOTD

I love the Nautical trend - that seems to come round just about every spring/summer - but in a more diluted form. For a trend like this, you only need a couple of key pieces, the rest you'll probably already have in your wardrobe. The same rule applies to most trends, so if you see one particular piece you like, buy it and raid your wardrobe for the rest of the outfit!

The key pieces I chose were a striped blazer, and matching pumps. I paired them with my favourite skinnies, a bandeau style top, and of course - a red lip. Red lips are the key to nauticalness! In terms of accessories, I always find that silver works with blue and anything stripy so I wore my silver rings from Pandora, and a nautical navy rope necklace from Monsoon. I could have worn a skirt and a cami, but it was a tad too chilly so opted for my reliable Asos Ridley jeans! I felt it was the ideal outfit for a wee stroll and lunch down by the Harbour, bring on many more days like this, this summer!

Fashion | Panache Role Models Campaign

Last week whilst browsing Youtube, a Panache ad popped up. Usually I pay no attention to the ads in-between videos as they're either not relevant to me or I've seen them a thousand times. This was one I hadn't seen, and it immediately caught my eye for a couple of reasons - 1.I've grown to be quite a big Panache fan over the past few years due to being in the buying industry, and viewing one stunning collection after another from the brand, and 2. the very beautiful lingerie model (Marquita Pring) starts the ad with a question - 'What do you see when you look at me?'.

Marquita lists some of her many achievements through the ad such as being featured on the cover of Vogue Italia, and also being a co-founder of ALDA- a group that promotes body positivity and encourages women to embrace their curves whatever size or shape they are. The ad ends with the final message from Marquita being 'Because I'd like to think there's so much more to me, than the way I look'. To see such an inspirational woman deliver this extremely positive message really got me thinking. We live in a world where 'celebrities' and models tend to be idolised -Cara, Karlie, Kylie...why do people idolise them? Is it because of the way that they look, or the impact they've had on the world? Is it their fame status, or is it how much they have accomplished in their lives and careers? When you think of your role models, what is it that makes them a 'role model' to you?

Jennie Biano, the Panache Head of Marketing explained 'The campaign delivers our objectives through six inspiring women and their personal achievements, and I hope it will inspire the next generation of role models, and I am extremely proud of the results.' Panache claim that although '81% of women today agree role models raise aspirations, 75% of them think there are no aspirational female role models', Well, here you go that 75%! Here are some incredibly inspirational 'role models'!

Martyna Kaczmarek - set up the charity 'Day in the Life' which promotes bone marrow donation in Poland.

Mica Paris - Mica is British soul singer, Charity Patron and was named one of the '100 Great Black Britons'.

Rachel Elliott - Rachel's selfless attitude in her role as an Ebola battling nurse in Sierra Leone make her the perfect choice for this Panache campaign.

Hannah Cockcroft MBA - Hannah is the world record holder in the 100m, 200m, 400m, and 800m wheelchair raising. Just wow.

Amy Hughes - Amy holds some very impressive world records - 17 consecutive marathons in Texas, and 53 marathons in 53 days in 53 cities around the UK!

So, here it is - the video that prompted this blog post. I hope you find it as thought-provoking and inspirational as I did.

Lifestyle | Another day, Another Castle! + OOTD

The sun FINALLY ventured out this weekend in Weymouth, so Justin and I decided to find somewhere to have our first picnic of the summer. Sandford Castle, surrounded by the sea and plenty of areas to lounge around, was the perfect location for the afternoon. Not so perfect for my hay-fever, but I was happy for people to assume I just looked a bit emoshe due to my streaming eyes.

I'm still having to cover up to keep out of the sun (due to medication) which pains me greatly!! I'm a firm tan lover/ sun worshipper, so all I can say is thank goodness for false tan! I wanted to look nice but still feel comfortable, as I knew we would be doing a bit of walking, so I opted for my Asos Curve swing dress, which is very flattering and has a really beautiful back cut out detail (that I annoyingly forgot to photograph!), and some summery navy floral leggings from Matalan (No longer available, similar available here.) Sadly, my fro was uncontrollable... as you're about to see.

* Prepare yourself for some very wind swept images! *

My accessories are from -

Pink Double Bag - Prada
Marc Jacobs Sunglasses (Sold out) Similar here - Eyewearbrands.com
Pink Rose Ring - Pandora
Pink Heart Ring - Pandora
Flower Glass necklace (Sold out) Similar here - Zara
Lustre Lipstick in Capricious - Mac

Fashion | Monochrome OOTD feat Asos Curve

We are continually told to 'dress for your shape' and to only wear items that flatter your figure. Sometimes... I just don't want to, and I no longer feel the pressure to. Don't get me wrong, I love fitted pieces, but i do not agree that just because I'm plus size means I should never wear anything oversized, as it might look 'unflattering'. Well, I'm happy to take that risk! I'm obsessed with full monochrome looks at the moment, so today I opted for this Asos oversized t-shirt which I absolutely love as you can pop it over just about any pair of bottoms. I decided on my Asos Aztec Treggings (available in sizes 18-30) which are extremely comfortable scuba fabric trousers, and some black slipper flats which are also from Asos.

In the T-shirt i went for a size 24 which was perfect. I've had so much wear out of it already- Tucked in and slouched over a skirt, with jeans and a waist belt, and with leggings on more chilled days. Fringing is everywhere this season, not just adorning accessories like my bag, but clothing too. So, if you see anything you fancy grab hold of it ASAP as it's set to be one of the biggest trends this summer.

My Accessories are :
Gem Bib Necklace (Sold Out) - from Violetta at Mango
Marc Jacobs MJ17 sunglasses (sold out) - from Eyewearbrands.com

Lipstick -
Lipcheat in 'Pillow Talk' - Charlotte Tilbury
Matte Pink Nouveau - Mac
Lipglass in Floating Lotus - Mac

Do you wear oversized clothing or stick to items which flatter your shape? What do you think of this mono outfit? Feel free to let me know your thoughts below, or pop over to Instagram and Twitter to say Hello! xx

Fashion | Marc Jacobs at EyeWearBrands

I've now come to terms with the fact that it is pointless for me to buy non-prescription sunglasses. High street sunnies tend to look good... but I'm sacrificing being able to actually see. Tough times. I've become quite loyal to an online eyewear website - Eyewearbrands - recently after purchasing a few pairs of designer glasses, at great prices. So, I thought I'd have a look for some sunglasses.

I found these beautiful Marc Jacob square frame sunglasses with gold hardware. I love that they have a bit of colour - grey, red and beige, as I was looking for something a little different from the typical black and brown pairs I tend to pick up. They arrived in a leather Marc Jacobs case with a soft bag, cleaning cloth, and additional lenses. I paid £145 altogether, which I think is very reasonable for a new season style including prescription lenses.

This style has since sold out, but there are oodles of styles and brands, so I'm sure you'd be able to find something you like. They're also offering 15% off with the code '15OFF'. One word of warning - it can take a few weeks for your order to arrive as they source many of their frames straight from the manufacturer. My MJ pair came all the way from Italy, so I had to wait 3 weeks for them to arrive - definitely worth the wait!

What do you think of my new sunglasses? Have you previously purchased from Eyewearbrands or got your eyes on any styles on the website? As always, I'd love to know so, please feel free to leave your thoughts below. I post on Instagram everyday, so please pop over and say hello! xx
